Bubble Fun

As part of science week and throughout the term Room 4 have been experimenting with bubbles. Did you know you can cut a bubble in half? Ask your child how.

The children learned new science words such as separate, observation, mixture, prediction and gas.

During Discovery Time the children from Room's 1, 5 and 4  were experimenting with Bubble wrap art. They had great fun, got very messy and were creative.

The Tiny Woman's Coat

In  Room 4 we shared a lovely Big Book called The Tiny Woman's Coat. The tiny woman made a coat from leaves and asked her animal friends to help.  Room 4 made their own tiny lady wearing a beautiful coat made from leaves. They hope you enjoy their pictures.

Geometry Art inspired by Piet Mondrian

Room 4 enjoyed being inspired by the work of Piet Mondrian. His work focuses on lines, block colour and Geometrical shape. This was a time consuming piece of art and it took Room 4 most of term 2 to complete their pictures.

Firstly they created the lines from a ruler placed in different directions across the page. Then they drew around 2 Dimensional shapes to soften the lines and add interest.

Lastly they used colouring pencils to fill in the shapes and create their unique designs.  If you want to see their master pieces close up please feel free to pop into Room 4 to have a look.

Classifying 3 Dimensional shapes

Geometry in Room 4

We have been learning about 3 dimensional shapes. We can count the edges and faces.  We know the difference between different shapes and can group them.
