Welcome to 2018 Room 4

2017 Beach Day at Long Bay

Room 4 had a awesome day at Long Bay Beach recently.  They played flags, made sandcastles and jumped over the waves. A big thank you for all the hard work and organisation that made this day possible it was amazing. It was great to see so many families supporting the children, it turned out to be a fun family day.  Thanks to Laura Danica's mum, for taking such great photo's of all the fun.

Diwali Candle Dance

Room 4 have been working hard creating their own Diwali Candle dance. They came up with all their own moves and sequences.

Owairaka were very lucky this week to be entertained by a group of Indian cultural  performers, who had traveled all the way from India to visit Owairaka school.  The school enjoyed an amazing performance of song, music and dance. They also were told about the historical tradition of Diwali and how it is celebrated today across the world.

Room 4's blend of the week is tr. Just look at all the words the children came up with that began with tr. Well done Room 4 you know lots of words that start with tr. 

Welcome to week one Term 4

For the beginning of this term Owairaka will be focusing on Learning Together. This fits in beautifully with our overall theme of UNITY which has underpinned 2017.

Measurement in Room 4

We have been learning about how to measure length and width using non-standard units of measurement. We used uni cubes and learned that we needed to use the same unit of measurement to measure accurately. 

We were also able to count and  describe the difference between two objects we had measured.
