Happy Diwali

Owairaka were very lucky this week to be entertained by a group of Indian cultural  performers, who had traveled all the way from India to visit Owairaka school.  The school enjoyed an amazing performance of song, music and dance. They also were told about the historical tradition of Diwali and how it is celebrated today across the world.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE PERFORMERS. 💜

The teachers had a mini dance lesson too.

Measurement in Room 4

We have been learning about how to measure length and width using non-standard units of measurement. We used uni cubes and learned that we needed to use the same unit of measurement to measure accurately.

We were also able to count and  describe the difference between two objects we had measured.

PMP on Thursday morning.

Room 4  have PMP every Thursday morning. We are so lucky to have awesome parents who run the program for the children. The children go through a rotation of physical exercises which helps their coordination, balance and concnetration.

Ambury Farm

Rimu had a great learning experience recently at Ambury Farm.  The children experienced hands on interactions with various farm animals.  Their favorites had to be hand feeding the lambs and stroking the huge Shire horses.

The children loved meeting the mother pig and her adorable piglets.

Group photo by the farm picture frame. Then off for an hour walk.

Add caption
Listening to a mini lesson about sheering sheep. Them they met Daisy who had a hair cut to show the children how it all works.

A well earned lunch at the farm.  Room 4 had just returned
 from an hour walk.

Bubble Fun

As part of science week and throughout the term Room 4 have been experimenting with bubbles. Did you know you can cut a bubble in half? Ask your child how.

The children learned new science words such as separate, observation, mixture, prediction and gas.

During Discovery Time the children from Room's 1, 5 and 4  were experimenting with Bubble wrap art. They had great fun, got very messy and were creative.

The Tiny Woman's Coat

In  Room 4 we shared a lovely Big Book called The Tiny Woman's Coat. The tiny woman made a coat from leaves and asked her animal friends to help.  Room 4 made their own tiny lady wearing a beautiful coat made from leaves. They hope you enjoy their pictures.
